Deciding to join Pitt Band is a life-changing choice. Since the University of Pittsburgh does not have a school of music, and music majors are not required to be members of the marching band, we all participate in Pitt Band because we love the experience it has to offer. Because more than being simply a group or an activity, Pitt Band is an experience of its own. In addition to our love for the pride and tradition that we represent, we are incredibly close within our sections and the band at large. Pitt Band goes beyond excellence in marching and music. informational form and we will contact you with all the information you need about the Pitt Band.
You will find that the Pitt Band is the premier instrumental performing ensemble on campus and is open to students in ALL majors. Band Camp 2024 will be
August 9-16, and during the semester we rehearse Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 5:15-7:15 p.m. and Friday 5-7 pm. It is a very manageable schedule no matter what your major. Through the spring and summer we will schedule auditions and send emails with all the information you need.
Note: We do accept some students from other area universities based on available spots in each section. If we do not fill a section with Pitt students we accept students from other universities to get to full strength. Be sure to inform Dr. Townsend if you are not a Pitt student.
